Julie’s “NVQ” days started when she was given the opportunity to complete my Level 2 in Childcare – for “FREE” due to living in a rural area, at the time she was a volunteer at her daughter’s playschool and simply completed the qualification “because it was free!” Her assessor was fantastic and very supportive, and even better she didn’t have to go anywhere, she came to see her!
After successfully completing her Level 2 in Childcare, and having her son she decided that if she had her son’s toys all over the house, then why not become a Registered Childminder and look after other people’s children and get paid for it! Soon after becoming approved as a Childminder, she was then given the opportunity to progress to her L3 Childcare with the same assessor…. Oh and FREE of charge again!
As she progressed with her Level 3, she began to take an interest in the Assessor role and very quickly, once her Assessor had finished asking her questions based on Childcare, she turned the question sessions around to quiz her about her job and responsibilities! Shortly before the end of her L3 qualification, she was approached to manage a busy village Nursery setting, full of self-doubt and stepping into the “unknown” she took on the challenge and loved every minute of it!!.... until 3 years later when it was their Ofsted inspection. Coming through the Ofsted inspection with a “good”, she decided the time was right to pursue her career as an NVQ Assessor.
Fast forward to today, and she says she’s feeling “old” (she doesn’t look it) with 17 years of experience within the work based learning/Private Training sector, (although always still learning!) the passion remains as strong as ever to support learners within a range of environments to develop and update their knowledge, to gain a qualification which can help them to progress to “the next stage” within their employment, or to the next level qualification.
Julie completed her Internal Quality Assurance qualifications, and enjoys the challenges of monitoring and developing Quality within an organisation and supporting Assessors to develop their own practice and understanding, She has also “branched” out and along with Childcare L2/L3/L5 can add Teaching assistant L2/L3, Youth Worker L2, Play work L2/L3/L5, Team Leading L2, Management L3/L5, Customer service L2/L3 and Business Administration L2/L3 to her areas of competence.
Julie has a wide range of experience is a valued member of our team.
