Stop & Just Breathe

Stop & Just Breathe

When was the last time you just stopped & looked up to marvel at the sky or enjoyed an uninterrupted walk in the woods?

I don’t know about you, but I’ve done this more over the past year than any other time I can remember.

Throughout the pandemic more of us have been forced to slow down re-evaluate how we interact with others & enjoy the little things which has led to more of us taking stock & just relaxing in our own space.

Although I wouldn’t recommend cloud spotting whilst cliff walking, individually they’re both enjoyable distractions.

I’m now back at work following a long weekend at a rented lakeside lodge with C, our eldest daughter, her wife, their baby daughter & their dog Mo.

We arrived at the lodge on Friday & what ensued was chaos, not the chaos that evokes a feeling of anxiety but that family chaos with excited overlapping chatter, laughter & luggage strewn everywhere as we explored our new surroundings – yes, the Clampetts had arrived!

This is the sort of stuff that I’ve missed.

- For clarity we are in a formal bubble & have been since the arrival of their daughter, so this cross-household break was approved -

Family breakfasts, visits to the seaside, a first for the youngest in our group, the odd beer & horror films on an evening made for a very relaxing break, which incidentally left us all exhausted!

Switching our phones to silent, going for early morning walks, mainly to empty Mo, but early morning walks all the same & just being present in the moment enjoying the stuff that gets overlooked in our previously busy lives are just some of the things that I’ll definitely take with me into our post pandemic world.

I’m thoroughly relaxed & ready to get stuck into some work but unlike my pre-pandemic work obsessed self I will definitely be committing more time to enjoying the little things moving forward & taking the time to stop, enjoy the moment & just breath.

I hope you have a great week.

Cheers

Noel
