National Apprenticeship Week is coming, and it offers you the chance to help your business in many key areas.
The first step will be that you will be playing an active role in training both the existing and next generation of employees to ensure a successful future. At a time when many businesses are also struggling to recruit staff, it's an ideal way to build a dedicated, loyal workforce.
Within a very short period, an apprentice adds value to your organisation in terms of their own productivity and the morale boost it can give to other employees who see that their employer is actively investing in the future.
We regard the week as the ideal opportunity to bring potential employers and apprentices together, hopefully, to meet the needs of both. You can rest assured that, as a government-approved training service, we take great care to match the right candidate with the right employer.
We're also here to help you throughout the apprenticeship, ensuring that you get what you need from your apprentice(s) whilst they are getting the training that both they and you as an employer require.
On a regular basis (normally monthly) we will schedule visits to check that everything's going well on both sides and by the end of the apprenticeship, you'll have a person fully trained to your own specifications, ready to take up a permanent role in your business.
Engineering is a very broad subject and as a result offers a wide range of apprenticeship opportunities. For example, engineering operatives can get involved in a very varied range of activities, many of which include transferable skills.

There are many opportunities open to anyone interested in childcare and an apprenticeship is an excellent route into the sector. A little higher up the scale, typically as a level five apprentice, you could become a manager.

Most people would agree that educators are some of the most important people. Despite what you might imagine, you don't necessarily need a degree to get involved in education.
There are plenty of roles with apprenticeship entry including teaching assistants and early years educators. Typically, these are longer apprenticeships lasting 18 months or more – and the end result is one of the most satisfying jobs you can find.
