Apprentice Achievements

Philip Connolly

Safety, Health and Environment Technician Level 3 at Moores Furniture Group

What is your background?

I joined Moores 5 years ago and started in our product engineering team. Within this role, I was also a Moores Safety Champion, and this inspired me to pursue an apprenticeship and career path in this area.

What do you like about the apprenticeship scheme so far?

The Apprenticeship with Springfield Training has helped me to gain valuable experience within the field and allowed me to develop my practical skills and understanding of the company. It provides me with the exciting prospect of gaining first-hand insight into what it takes to be a leading contributor in developing safety, health, and environmental awareness, processes, policies, and management so that I can become an essential part of the team.

The role can also be challenging at times, which has helped push me out of my comfort zone, in turn making me more confident, and giving me greater networking and interpersonal skills.

This would not be possible without the support and guidance of my team who I can rely on as experts in the field to share their knowledge and experience. In addition, I have an assigned course mentor Thomas Parker who is coaching me through my level 3. This includes online tuition, scheduled modules, training and resources that I can refer to which improve my skills and knowledge to complete my study.

Would you recommend an apprenticeship scheme to others?

I am thoroughly enjoying my course and would recommend anyone to take the opportunity that I have been given. It has inspired me to better myself and in the end, I will come out of it with a professional qualification that will broaden my career prospects.
